They are incredibly well-done, though there's perhaps a bit too much reliance on orchestral music, something that certainly wasn't the case in the original series. I've read all the books (and to my delight, so has my 11 year old daughter) but have not yet heard the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hitchhiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy_Tertiary_to_Quintessential_Phases">new radio shows</a>. I attempted to order them from <a target="_blank" href="http://www.audible.com/adbl/site/products/ProductDetail.jsp?productID=PF_BBCW_000475&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes">Audible</a>, but after adding <em>The Teritary Phase</em> to my cart, I received an error message: "<em>We are sorry but your geographic location prevents us from selling you this product</em>." I suppose we really do live in the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Places_in_The_Hitchhiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy#Earth">unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the galaxy</a> ... No matter, these series are also <a href="http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewArtist?id=2080713">available </a>from iTunes. His scripts for the first and second radio series are astounding. I've heard the original two series dozens of times, and they inspired me to learn a little about sound mixing. I was so happy two years ago when I heard they were finally doing the last three books as radio series. If you've not heard them, dig them up. They are a loving testament to the enduring spirit of Douglas Adams. If not for Douglas Adams, I would not have gotten into radio. His scripts for the first and second radio series are astounding.
