{"id":231,"date":"2003-04-03T13:41:18","date_gmt":"2003-04-03T13:41:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/semitrue.com\/blog\/2003\/04\/03\/oil-and-water-dont-mix\/"},"modified":"2007-03-17T08:22:59","modified_gmt":"2007-03-17T12:22:59","slug":"oil-and-water-dont-mix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semitrue.com\/blog\/2003\/04\/03\/oil-and-water-dont-mix\/","title":{"rendered":"OIL AND WATER DON&#8217;T MIX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\">NY Daily News<\/a><\/em>, as promised, we are bringing the &#8220;best&#8221; of democracy to Iraq&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/04-01-2003\/news\/story\/71786p-66584c.html\">DEAL TO SELL WATER ALL WET, CRITICS CHARGE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>UMM QASR, Iraq &#8211; The U.S. military came up with a solution yesterday for the penniless people of this port town begging for water: Sell it.<\/p>\n<p>Despite general mayhem at distribution points &#8211; including knife fights &#8211; the Army has struck a hasty agreement with local Iraqis to expedite distribution of water to the roughly 40,000 living here.<\/p>\n<p>Under the deal, the military will provide water free to locals with access to tanker trucks, who then will be allowed to sell the water for a &#8220;reasonable&#8221; fee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re permitting them to charge a small fee for water,&#8221; said Army Col.
